This Nationwide qualification is designed solely for those persons who hold, as a minimum, a relevant Level 2 electrotechnical qualification and are, or have been, working in the electrotechnical sector, practicing as a domestic electrician for a minimum of three years’ which does not include time spent in education or training, who can demonstrate their technical knowledge, skills and competence to recognised industry standards and wish to gain a formal industry recognised Level 3 qualification.
This qualification is not for new entrants to the electrotechnical industry, apprentices, operatives who require training or those who have completed an electrotechnical technical qualification with less than three years’ full-time relevant industry experience.
A ‘Skills Scan’ must be completed as part of the initial assessment for learner enrolment onto this qualification.
This qualification has been developed to enable learners to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and competency when carrying out electrical work activities in domestic dwellings. This includes demonstrating competency in accordance with legislation, regulations and industry standards. The qualification includes units which cover, health and safety, planning and overseeing electrical work, design and installation practices and procedures, inspection and testing and fault diagnosis and rectification.
The Skills Scan is designed to establish the suitability of the experienced worker to enrol onto qualification.
This qualification forms part of the requirements for the Domestic Electrician Experienced Worker Assessment (EWA) which when combined with the separate AM2ED assessment enables the experienced worker to apply for an ECS Domestic Electrician Gold Card.
Learners must enrol onto the AM2ED within 18 months of qualification registration and achieve the qualification prior undertaking the AM2ED assessment.
